vary according to the sleep disorder that is present.
For people with insomnia, it may be a matter of sleep
regulation, practicing good sleep hygiene, and in some
cases a mild sleeping medication may be prescribed for
short-term use.
People with sleep apnea may benefit by simply changing
sleep position, using a nasal decongestant while the more
profound cases benefit from from the use of the highly
effective positive airway pressure devices that use air
pressure to prop the airway open during sleep. Other treatments
include oral appliances and various surgeries.
Other sleep-related disorders are treated using a combination
of medications and encouraging patients to practice good
sleep hygiene.
